We ONLY review books and documentary films published or released within the previous 2 years.

We do not review second (or third) editions unless there have been major changes.

We do NOT accept:

  • textbooks
  • reference materials
  • works of fiction or literary analysis
  • fine art books
  • books where the main chronological coverage pre-dates 1900
As an area-studies journal we are focussed on the Pacific Rim region, namely:

Asia General (books that cover more than one Asian country)
China and Inner Asia (including Mongolia, Tibet)
Northeast Asia (Japan, North and South Korea)
South Asia (India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Kashmir, Nepal)
Southeast Asia (Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia)
Australasia and the Pacific Islands (Australia, New Zealand, Hawaii, Papua New Guinea, Micronesia)

Subject areas we cover are: (the focus must be current – 1900 to present day)
